Cashmere Mafia: Sex and the City Replacement?

Ok, I fell for the hype and watched Cashmere Mafia this past Sunday after Desperate Housewives. Because I am such a HUGE Sex and the City fan (and suffer momentary bouts of withdrawal even with the plethora of reruns), I was quite skeptical that the creator of such a cult hit could come back with another zinger. Thankfully, I was very wrong!

Cashmere Mafia didn't disappoint. It details the saga of 4 business school alums who struggle to balance work, love relationships, family, social lives, and life in general. Now that I am a working wife and mother who has to be in the know of all that's hot and happening, I can certainly empathize and sympathize with the lovely ladies, as can many of my readers and the viewing public. It's not so hard to have it all...its maintaining it all that is the real challenge...

Because of its novelty, Sex and the City caught on like rapid fire and filled the void for women who seemingly either had it all or wanted it all, but who were a bubbling cauldron of confusion and chaos underneath it all. With a marketplace teeming with shows geared toward the female psyche, CM has a wee bit of competition, but I think that the show creators aren't really concerned about that. With uber-stylist Patricia Fields on board, the ladies are looking fierce (2 snaps) and have some real drama: fiance breaking off relationship because he can't deal with losing a high powered job to a woman (his own fiance), a woman who has reached the peak of singledom and now seeking some love from the softer sex, nanny madness and balancing children/social events/work/life, and dealing with a chronically cheating spouse who brings it a little too close to home. I have high hopes for this show: I already love the fashions (I want to steal ALL of Lucy Liu's wardrobe!) and the drama is addictive and real. If I could only find a way to get paid for my real life drama...

Anyways, stay tuned (especially to me!) and keep it strictly stylish!

I am a HUGE SATC fan and I was a tad disapointed with Cashmere Mafia. The wardrobe was great but I felt the writing lacked a bit...But I will give it another shot next week ! :)
