In honor of all mothers getting back into pre-baby shape (myself included), here’s some inspiration. We all have some the almost unbelievable transformation of Heidi Klum two months post-baby walking down the Victoria’s Secret runway.

Her fellow Angel, Alessandra Ambrosia, had to go through a similar transformation. From the NY Daily News:

What Me? Shameless Publicity?

Hello fab readers!

In the name of election fashion, I was interviewed for an article in the Washington Post Express shortly before the election. Election fashion is always funny....but this time around, it was rather chic and contemporary. I mean, in what election could you wear "Barack the Vote" T-shirts after it is all said and done and STILL look in style?

Although my name is spelled incorrectly and I'm only listed as an etiquette coach..but otherwise...it's free pub!

Click the pic below to enlarge and enjoy the fab election fashion piece compliments of moi!

MAN DAY: Fall Back Into Fitness

HAPPY MAN DAY!

In the spirit of my journey to get rid of the baby bulge, I decided to get my fab menfolk s jump into fall fitness. Here's a great article that I found on Men's Vogue site:

Kacy Duke knows crunch time. After all, it's her job to turn flabby film stars into big screen heroes—and fast. (Bruce Willis and Denzel Washington are both clients.) To get you back in action, she's created a six-week workout that's heavy on heart-pumping work and light on downtime. Her regimen follows, and she says that in each week you should also add two days of cardio and one day of rest.

WEEK ONE

Do the following for four days in the first week. Add in two days of a cardio of your choosing (play tennis, go for a run, ride a bike), and make sure that you give yourself one day off. You'll need it.

CARDIO
30 minutes on the treadmill
5 minutes of brisk walking to warm up
5 minutes of running at an incline of 6
5 minutes of power walking at an incline of 8
5 minutes of running at an incline of 8

That should get you started....get rid of that flab and shape it up. Flabby is not attractive....at all! It's time for you to fall back into fitness and get in shape. Especially if you are asking yourself, " Do I look fat in this?"

For the rest of the workout, read here.

Maternal Style File: Salma Hayek at the 2008 Hollywood Domino Tournament

Salma Hayek looks rather divalicious at the 2008 Hollywood Domino Tournament. I know, the 2008 Hollywood Domino tournament sounds like there should be a grill and a cooler close with picnic table topped with plastic linens, doesn't it....but apparently the event was to raise funds for The Art of Elysium.

Ok, you know I had to Google it, right? The Art of Elysium is, according to their site:

E.ly’.si.um: a place or condition of ideal happiness

Mission: The Art of Elysium, a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization founded in 1997, encourages working actors, artists and musicians to voluntarily dedicate their time and talent to children who are battling serious medical conditions. We provide artistic workshops in the following disciplines: acting, art, comedy, fashion, music, radio, songwriting and creative writing.

Whether it is a Hollywood Domino Tournament or a backyard barbeque, Salma Hayek rarely goes wrong. You go, mama!

Strictly Fab Find for the Week of November 10, 2008

I haven't done my Fab Finds in a while, so let's start with just one goodie today:

I started reading The Shack by William P. Young and I was amazed. I have never read theological fiction, but I really enjoyed this book. It made me examine my own faith and appreciate the life that I have. Here's a review:

The Shack revolves around Mack (Mackenzie) Philips. Four years before this story begins, Mack’s young daughter, Missy, was abducted during a family vacation. Though her body was never found, the police did find evidence in an abandoned shack to prove that she had been brutally murdered by a notorious serial killer who preyed on young girls. As the story begins, Mack, who has been living in the shadow of his Great Sadness, receives a strange note that is apparently from God. God invites Mack to return to this shack for a get together. Though uncertain, Mack visits the scene of the crime and there has a weekend-long encounter with God, or, more properly, with the godhead.

What should you do when you come to the door of a house, or cabin in this case, where God might be? Should you knock? Presumably God already knew that Mack was there. Maybe he ought to simply walk in and introduce himself, but that seemed equally absurd. And how should he address him? Should he call him Father, or Almighty One, or perhaps Mr. God, and would it be best if he fell down and worshipped, not that he was really in the mood.

As he tried to establish some inner mental balance, the anger that he thought had so recently died inside him began to emerge. No longer concerned or caring about what to call God and energized by his ire, he walked up to the door. Mack decided to bang loudly and see what happened, but just as he raised his fist to do so, the door flew open, and he was looking directly into the face of a large beaming African-American woman.

This large and oh-so-stereotypical matronly African-American woman is God (or at least an anthropomorphism of God she chose to take on in order to communicate with Mack). Throughout the story she is known as Papa. Near the end, because Mack requires a father figure, she turns into a pony-tailed, grey-haired man, but otherwise God is this woman. Jesus is a young to middle-aged man of Middle-Eastern (i.e. Jewish) descent with a big nose and rather plain looks while the Holy Spirit is played by Sarayu, a small, delicate and eclectic woman of Asian descent. By this point many people will choose to close the book and be done with it. But for the purposes of this review, let’s just assume you are able to get past seeing God and the Holy Spirit portrayed in this way and let’s press on.

BTW, you don't have to be a Christian to read this book...so enjoy immensely! Keep it strictly stylish!

Strictly Fab Find: Chanel Fishing Rod

Okay, my father is an avid fisherman...and most of his buddies are too. I know they spend a pretty penny on fishing equipment and accessories, but I doubt they would pay $18,000 for a rod...

From Fashion Week Daily:

Recession? What recession? If there’s one person who you can count on for excess no matter what the economic climate, it’s Kaiser Karl, who with his Chanel team has created a Chanel fishing rod, complete with quilted leather case and double C latches. Just think of it as your 2.55 when you’re out on the lake. Go fish!
I would rather buy a mini-boat than a rod with $18K...but, hey, that's just my take on it....

MAN DAY: The 'Obama Way'-- Seven steps to success

Happy Man Day!

Needless to say, I am overjoyed and elated that Obama is now our 44th President-elect.  I'm still sleepy from staying up so late last night to take it all in.  Obama's campaign is the most successful political campaign ever...and now it is called The Obama Way.  I came across this article in the wee hours of the morning that described this fab way to success and thought that you fab male readers would truly appreciate these nuggets of knowledge. Here's an excerpt and  the steps in a nutshell, but if you would like to read the entire article, check here.

Obama’s campaign has been so distinctive, disciplined and cutting edge that it’s nearly impossible not to look at it for clues as to what his White House would be like.

Businessmen and politicians will reverently study the campaign for years to come as a model of innovative branding and an example for digital sales strategies.

Politically, Obama’s ability to finesse tough issues — to anticipate criticism and play off of it — is a model of tactical skill. In terms of public character, his vaunted coolness is state-of-the-art.

  1. Be Decisive
  2. Have a tight circle
  3. Stick with the plan
  4. Sweat the details
  5. Understand your brand
  6. Go digital
  7. Use caution

Treats for the Election Night Lush

Election night is a'coming and many people will have cause  to celebrate...or cry...either way, have a drink!  I snarfed these delectable delights in the form of cocktails inspired by Sen. Obama and Sen. McCain from iVillage.  I know that I will be one or the other tomorrow night.....let's drink it up!

Ciroc Obama

If you're ready for a change in your cocktail repertoire, whip up this refreshing drink.

 1 part Ciroc vodka

1/2 part Blue Curacao

1 part fresh lime juice (or sour mix)

1 part Sprite

Mix all the ingredients and shake in a stirrer with ice; serve over ice in a rocks glass and garnish with lime.

McCainarita

Reform your standard margarita with a unique twist: the addition of pomegranate juice.

1 part Siembra Azul Reposado tequila

1/2 part Grand Marnier

1 part fresh lime juice (or sour mix)

1 part pomegranate juice

Mix all the ingredients and shake in a stirrer with ice; serve over ice.

The O’Bomber

Named after Barack Obama's high school basketball nickname, this cocktail is a fitting tribute.

 1/2 ounce coconut rum

1/2 ounce Blue Curacao

San Pellegrino

Pour the coconut rum and Blue Curacao into a single shot glass, fill a highball glass halfway with San Pellegrino, and drop the shot glass into the highball glass.

The White Tornado

This cocktail is inspired by John McCain's Congressional-insider nickname.

 2 ounces vodka

1 ounce Kahlua

Light cream

Creme de Cassis

Pour vodka and Kahlua over ice cubes in an old-fashioned glass and fill with light cream; swirl Creme de Cassis over the top.

Miss Independent

If you've got some nonpartisan types in the crowd, serve this colorful, spunky drink.

 2 parts Stoli Raz vodka

1 part Cointreau

Splash of cranberry

Splash of lime juice

Mix all the ingredients and shake in a stirrer with ice; serve in a martini glass with a lemon garnish.
